International Peace Day

September 28, 2009

From P’ Ae – a Thai youth activist…The walk was also featured in The Irrawaddy

I would like to share an activity that we joint during International Peace Day on 21 Sept. 2009. We were 14 young activists from Chiang Mai joined with friends from many countries marching for peace in Mae Sot, Tak province, Thailand.  The sun that day was so terrible strong and some of us almost get fainted! The walk was about 12 km but we felt like 120 km! Only thing in my mind was to think about how hard people have been suffering but why only this walk I couldn’t make it so finally we reached the Burma-Thai Friendship Bridge.

We met with many activists particularly from Burma. We gained more inspiration and encouragement to see our freinds who have been actively struggling for peace in Burma with their spririts and peace in their mind.

Peace,
Ae
